"Don't let them get away with it, Jacks-"
Those were the sheriff's last words. Left for dead in the middle of the road, Jackson Devereaux's good buddy had slipped into a coma. Well, Jackson wouldn't let them get away with it, once the ace newspaper reporter uncovered who they were. He'd start with the lovely Alyssa LeBlanc, the only eyewitness to the crime. Problem was, she hated Jackson-why?-as much as she hated being back in the Louisiana bayou. Unfortunately, the truth lay deep in the bayou's belly. And whether they liked it or not, Alyssa had to lead the way.

Bayou Corruption Bayou Series Book 2 edition by Robin Caroll Religion Spirituality eBooks

I like this book even better than the first in the series, Bayou Justice! I'm not sure why, but I like the heroine, Alyssa, better than CoCo from the first book. I don't really relate to Alyssa's job as a newspaper reporter, or her hatred of her home, or her personality, which is elegant and no-nonsense. But something about her is appealing to me as a reader, and I was immediately sucked into the story.

Like her sister CoCo, Alyssa is a strong character who doesn't take guff from anyone. She's a perfect foil for Jackson, the hero, who is also a reporter and more than a match for Alyssa's sass.

The story has hairpin turns that kept surprising me. The pacing of the story was excellent, too--I felt like the action started with a bang and never let up.

As with the first book, the culture of the bayou pervades every character, every scene, and I felt like I was on vacation in Louisiana with a close friend to both expose me to the culture and explain it at the same time. The setting itself is a character, and I loved the town, the food, the atmosphere of Lagniappe.

This is a fabulous novel for readers of all ages. The junior high girls in my church youth group will love this story, because the heroine is feisty and the hero is dashing, and the mystery and suspense kicks the romance up a notch.

Bayou Corruption Bayou Series Book 2 edition by Robin Caroll Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

This is the second book in the Bayou Series. This one is about Alyssa. I thoroughly enjoyed the nail biting suspense and the romance between Alyssa and Jackson. Now I'm downloading the third book. I can't get enough. I highly recommend this to all romantic suspense lovers.
I am officially hooked on Robin Caroll's Bayou Series from Steeple Hill Suspense.

Bayou Corruption is a deeply-moving story with a fast-moving plot that kept my gut clenched from the first page to the last.

Parts, such as the beginning of chapter three, brought me to tears. I don't often find suspense novels with this depth of emotion.

A very clever plot...and can I just say that chapter twenty-one is BRILLIANT! Bubba's blink scene is worth the price of the book alone. Bravo Robin!

The romance was so sweet, I loved the moment the hero realized his feelings...the male point of view was very well-portrayed in the writing.

Bayou Corruption is a MUST READ. Though it can stand alone in the series, you'll want to get Luc and CoCo's story while it's still available. Don't miss this series by a fabulousl up and coming author.

Bayou
Book 2

In this book, we get to know another LeBlanc sister. Alyssa is the middle child, and she was in the car wreck that killed her parents. Alyssa hated the Bayou because of all the memories it evoked. Her nightmares about that night always returned. But her grandmother, a voodoo priestess, has had a heart attack, and she loved her grandmother no matter how much she disagreed with her pagan ways.

But the very first night back, she witnessed the town sheriff being dumped on the road like a bag of trash...literally...and the last thing she wanted to do was to be forced to stay in town while there was an investigation! But she met her journalist rival, Jackson, who would cause her to have all kinds of feelings - some good and some not so good!

First of all, after reading the first book, I wondered how the author would ever make Buhba a romantic character. In the first book, his hands were described as "beefy" and his looks were very sub-standard, not to mention he spit tobacco a lot. It just seemed there wasn't much positive thought about the sheriff. But from the description in this book, it seems to be describing a different sort of character. I'm guessing the author has changed the character...a bit annoying, but I'm happy she did it.

The suspense in this story was very good. Though pretty predictable, I wondered how the author was going to wrap this story up. She did it rather well...

The romance was cute. Once they decided to act on their feelings...well...wow! -)

There is a huge surprise at the end that take up a whole one paragraph. I was shocked and was not happy that it happened, even though I figured something was going to happen due to a future book...but I was still very upset. I think that's why I only gave this four stars. This is not a negative comment toward the author. I know that sometimes these things happen and that's real life, but I really, really liked the person involved!
Was a great read, and a great addition to my collection, will most certianly read this one over again and again!!!
Wonderful story by a wonderful author!
Let me preface this that it has been awhile since I read this book but I loved this series. Ms. Caroll always keeps my attention with great story lines and real people. Well worth the read.
Another bayou Christian-themed novel that will take your breath away as you savor the sights. smells and foods of the Louisiana bayou. Love this series! Co Co's sister stars in this one when she discovers the sheriff in the middle of the road nearly dead. Another page-turning read. So glad to have found a Christian-themed series. The author does a wonderful job of weaving in the theme while keeping the reader hooked.
